Queen City’s Strongest

Norse Fitness and Mouser Strength Dynamics are joining forces once again, and this time the team that brought you the Norse Highlander presents…  QUEEN CITY’S STRONGEST! This incredible event is a Level 1 qualifier for 2019 Strongman Corp Nationals and will feature an opportunity to set NC state records in the Axle Deadlift!

Weigh-ins- Session One is Friday 11/16 at 5pm-8pm       Session Two is Sat 8am-9am

Rules/Safety Briefing- 11:00am. This meeting is mandatory.

Divisions-

Open, Masters, Teen, Novice, StrongMom

Weight Classes –

Women’s  0-120, 121-140,  141-160, 161-180, 181-200, & 201+

Men’s  0-150, 151-175, 176-200, 201-231,  232-265, 266-300, 301+

Consolidation of some classes is possible. I will do my best not to consolidate. Winner in Men’s and Women’s Open finishers in each class receive invites to Nationals. Top three in Masters receive invites. There must be 5 or more competitors in a sub-class or it will be consolidated. So tell your buddy to get off his/her butt and sign up!

Max Axle Deadlift

  • NC STATE RECORDS on the line
  • 60sec to produce a successful lift. You may push, pull, kick, scream, and dance all you want in that 60sec to produce a good lift. If that 60sec expires and you have not produced a good lift, you are out.
  • Must wait for down command. To receive a down command, knees must be locked, feet must be motionless, hips extended, shoulders back, and back straight.
  • Hands must remain in contact with the bar all the way to the floor. Dropping the bar WILL result in a “no lift”. Throwing a hissy fit because of a no-lift call will result in the judge still not caring.
  • We will take openers during warmups. 3 attempts will be allowed to reach a top weight, but if you miss, you’re out. Rising bar format.
  • Straps and sleeves legal. One belt is allowed.
  • Suits, hooks, and oils are not legal.

 

Alternating Block & Log Press

  • 75sec to perform as many reps as possible. Most reps wins.
  • Athlete will begin with the object of his/her choice, clean and press said object, then alternate back and forth between the implements taking them from the ground to overhead.
  • Must wait for down signal on each rep. In order to receive down signal, feet must motionless, not staggered, and within shoulder width; elbows, knees, and hips extended; posture upright; object motionless overhead

 

Farmers Walk for Distance

  • Athlete will carry farmers handles as far as possible without dropping.
  • Course will be roughly 50ft, so turns will be made accordingly.
  • No grip aids of any sort beyond chalk

 

???Mystery Event???

  • It’s a mystery, like in Scooby Doo.

 

Stone Series

  • Athlete will have 60sec to load a series of atlas stones
  • Fastest time wins – split times will be taken on each stone for scoring as well
  • Loading height 48″ for everyone
  • We will be lifting like our ancestors did (and like everyone did prior to the early 2000’s) – RAW! This means no tacky, no tacky towels, no construction adhesives, etc. Also, no rubberized clothing. Sleeves are fine, one belt, and tape on the forearms to keep you from bleeding all over our lovely stones.
  • If you need any motivation to get pumped up for traditional style stone lifting, please check out the new video documentaries from Rogue called “Stoneland” and “Fullsterkur”. If you don’t get absolutely jacked to lift like your ancestors did after watching those, then there is simply no help for you, and may God have mercy on your soul.

*Equipment clarification –

  • Sleeves may not feature fastening or buckling mechanisms.
  • “One belt” mean you may use a normal power belt, OR a soft belt. Not both. Pick one. You’re not a mummy, you don’t need to dress like one to pick stuff up. Complaints may be sent to my email for the low low price of one point off your overall score apiece. What a bargain!

 

General Rules/Usual Mouser Stuff

  • In the event of a tie in the final standings, 1st place finishes will decide the winner. If there is still a tie, then 2nd place finishes will be the determinant, and so on. If a tie cannot be broken this way, athletes will compete in a tie breaker.
  • Sportsmanship is expected and required. This is the greatest sport in the world, let’s keep it that way.
  • There will be a pre-event prayer. No one is expected to participate, so please do not feel obligated. All we ask is to be respectful of those that do or do not wish to participate.
  • This is a drug free contest. If you are juiced feel free to come cheer on your buddies but please do not bother to sign up.
  • If you have a question, please ask! I would rather take a minute to clarify something than to see someone have a poor showing due to a misunderstanding.

The rights granted by me hereunder are granted for the entire universe and shall endure in perpetuity and no further compensation shall be payable to me at anytime in connection therewith.
