Strength for Autism 2019

April 20, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

***Registration is now closed – thank you all 102 of you that signed up!***

A couple guys named Dustin and Paul met a few years ago via heavy lifting. Dustin hated Paul’s evil strongman implements, and Paul said Dustin was a ginger with no soul. Despite these differences they had one big thing in common: they both had autistic children in their lives. So, in 2016 Dustin said, “hey you dumb jerk, why don’t we put on a charity meet for autism?”. Paul replied “good idea you big dork”, and thus Strength for Autism was born. Join us on 4/20/19 and let’s make a difference.

Max Log Press

  • 60sec per attempt. 3 attempts. You may try as many times as you like during your 60sec allowance. If 60sec elapses and you have not produced a good lift, you are out.
  • 10″ for ladies, 12″ for guys
  • Rising bar and Wessels rule.
  • Athlete must wait for down command
  • To receive down command, knees must be locked; feet stationary, not staggered, and within shoulder width; hips extended; upright posture; elbows locked; implement must be motionless to demonstrate control. Pressing with a “layback” technique is fine, however posture must be upright at lockout to receive the down command.
  • Dropping the implement will result in a “no lift” call. Object must be controlled to the ground.
  • Sleeves, one belt, and wrist wraps are legal.
  • PA State Records up for grabs

Progressive Yoke Squat

  • 60sec
  • Most reps wins. Each rep becomes heavier.
  • Must wait for “lift” and “down” commands on each rep
  • Dropping yoke results in “no lift”
  • Yoke bar height will be set to 60% of lifter’s height to top of crossbar (to be measured at weighins). This puts most people in a half-squat.

Medley

  • 60 sec. All ladies, plus men’s LW Novice, LW Masters, and LW Teens use the Mini-Block. All others use the big Block.
  • Fastest time to complete wins. If not finished you will be credited for the items you did finish via split timing
  • Implements will be (in order): Mouser Block, Keg, Keg
  • 40ft course
  • Objects will be deposited on a crash pad under control. If you hurl an implement and it goes out of control you will be required to come back and reset the implement before proceeding.
  • No sticky substances. None. No, not even that. Not that either. I don’t care if it’s legal in that other comp.

Max Country Crush

  • Rules are planned to comply with Country Crush official record attempt guidelines
  • 2″ handle size will be used
  • More info to come.

Sandbag Toss

  • 60sec
  • Fastest time to complete all 7 bags wins. If an athlete does not finish credit will be given for the number of bags completed. Split times will be taken.
  • Bar height to throw over is listed on the chart above
  • Bags must be attempted and completed in order from lightest to heaviest
  • If you fail a throw, you may retry it as many times as needed as long as time is left

General Equipment Rules

  • Elbow sleeves & knee sleeves (buckling mechanisms and straps must not be tightened), a single belt, and wrist wraps are legal.
  • No knee wraps, deadlift suits, or nuclear powered Iron Man style robotics.

General Rules/Usual Mouser Stuff

  • In the event of a tie in the final standings, 1st place finishes will decide the winner. If there is still a tie, then 2nd place finishes will be the determinant, and so on. If a tie cannot be broken this way, athletes will compete head to head in a tie breaker event.
  • Sportsmanship is expected and required. This is the greatest sport in the world, let’s keep it that way.
  • There will be a pre-event prayer. No one is expected to participate, so please do not feel obligated. All we ask is to be respectful of those that do or do not wish to participate.
  • This is a drug free contest. If you are juiced feel free to come cheer on your buddies but please do not bother to sign up.
  • If you have a question, please ask! I would rather take a minute to clarify something than to see someone have a poor showing due to a misunderstanding.
