Wilderness Tracking

June 13, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Tracking a man or animal through the woods is a skill that most people do not possess, yet it is highly valuable in a variety of tasks.

Do you hunt? Being able to see where animals are moving, how fresh the tracks are, and how often they use the path can help you choose the most appropriate blind without relying on expensive trail cameras which can be stolen.

Do you work in Search and Rescue? Being able to track a lost subject can provide you a quicker response team, which could save lives.

Combat tracking may seem to be of relative use to the civilian, but yet in situations of civil unrest the ability to know if someone is in the area with you will be a vital skill.

This course will introduce the basics of track analysis including weight, gait, and other factors to determine key clues as to what laid down the track as well as factors such as injuries or equipment. You will learn to analyze subtle difference such as light and moisture. In addition, we will cover things such as reducing your own signature through the use of clothing, face paint, and equipment.
